About Us

Steven Gorlin began his attraction, love and fascination with water as a toddler digging to China in the sand, being thrown around in the surf, and learning how to swim in the ocean every summer in Bradley Beach, NJ.  Growing up in Hillside, next to Newark, Steven was a dreamer at an early age with a desire to connect with people through acting and directing in the theater. Steven's journey included acting school in NY, community theater in NJ and college in KS. In that journey... Steven found "his voice" and passion was focused on a deeper connection with people. That desire to connect with people, led Steven to develop and master the skills necessary to bring out the best in himself and everyone he came in contact with. To this day Steven often speaks publicly and privately on subjects that effectively support personal development and growth and enables his audience to  feel inspired about themselves and their future. 

Steven began working in the pool industry in Newark, NJ in 1969 as a part-time summer job in-between college semesters . A career that now spans over 40 years. Gorlin Pools and Spas is a family owned and operated business founded in the basement of his home in 1999. Today, we are a fully insured commercial and residential pool and spa contractor in the New Jersey area.  We specialize in customized concrete (gunite) projects. We perform all the design / build related processes and service normally associated with construction, renovation, service and maintenance of all types of Inground pools, spa and water features, including:
